We Asked for One Cat Game. We Got Two.

Kitty Picnic exists twice: once in your browser, and once as a real 8-bit NES cartridge. Nobody asked. Here we are.

The plan was simple: one cat, one picnic, some treats, and a deep and personal rivalry with cucumbers. Every cat knows cucumbers are the enemy. Science has not explained why. Science does not need to.

Then someone asked, "What if it ran on a Nintendo from 1985?" and we lost an entire evening.

The browser edition

Pixel art, a wardrobe full of outfits, a name screen that cheers for you, and music you can turn off if your coworkers are nearby. It runs anywhere, including your phone during a meeting you should be paying attention to.

The cartridge edition

A real NES game, 24 kilobytes in total, which is smaller than this paragraph probably is on your phone. It plays right here on the site in a little emulator, with on-screen buttons if you're on a phone. Press A to zap a cucumber. You will feel powerful. You are powerful.

"Two versions of the same cat game is too many." — nobody who has played either one
