Bacon Under the Moon: An Artist's Statement
A meditation on crispiness, impermanence and three-four time.
The work confronts the viewer with a single question: what does breakfast do when no one is watching?
Bacon, traditionally a supporting player, is here elevated to protagonist. It stands alone on a hill. It has legs, which it did not ask for. It dances anyway. This is the human condition, except it's bacon.
On the moon
The moon represents the eternal, the unknowable, and also a big circle, which is easy to draw. Its craters were placed with great care, in four spots, by math.
On the waltz
The accompanying waltz is synthesized live in your browser. Critics have called it "a waltz" and "technically music." The bacon has not commented, as it is busy.
"I don't get it." — everyone, correctly
The piece is best experienced at night, with the sound on, and with no further questions asked.
